On Thursday we had a surprise Bridal Shower for my best friend Ashley!

Since I met Ashley almost 5 years ago she has been addicted to mexican food. Taco Bell to be more specific. When my friend Jodi, my sister Chandler, and I decided to throw her a bridal shower we thought what better theme than a Fiesta Shower?

We had Ashley's fiance tell her that they were going on a date, but before he came Jodi asked Ashley to come to the mailroom with her. That's where we all jumped out and yelled a mixture of "SURPRISE", "CONGRATS" and "PENIS".

Jodi, Chandler, and I planned this shower in about 5 days, so we had to be quick about things. We got most of our ideas from pinterest and all of our party supplies from Zurchers and Hobby Lobby.

We had mini sombreros and mini pinatas that I was obsessed with, a ton of pink streamers, and of course undies for decoration. The "Just Tacos" sign is from Target and we used it as decoration and as a gift for Ashley. We had a pinata at the end that was filled with condoms and starbursts. 

Also there were cards for people to fill out there favorite memories with the Bride to Be and a canvas to write your name and kiss with lipstick (not pictured).

Since it was a Fiesta theme we had to have all the best fiesta foods! We had a ton of chips, dip, guac, and salsa. We had people bring taquitos, churros, penis shaped fruit, and even (virgin) pina coladas! It was all delicious.

We got a bunch of fun game ideas from pinterest as well. We played a game called "Porn or Polish?" where you had to guess whether the name was the name of a porno or the color of a nail polish. It was so fun! PSA Topless & Barefoot is actually the name of a nail polish.

We interviewed Ashley's fiance Ryan asking him questions about her. Ashley had to guess what he was going to say and if she got it wrong she had to put a piece of gum in her mouth. She only got 3 wrong, but I still thought she was going to choke!

The funniest games we played were the Cucumber game and Sex Charades. The Cucumber game is where you all stand in a circle and you have to pass the cucumber to one another only using your legs. I thought I was going to pee my pants! In the pictures it looks really weird, but in real life it was even weirder. Sex Charades is pretty self explanatory and pretty hilarious.

It was an awesome night with some of my favorite friends celebrating our girl, Ashley!

For the long weekend Curtis & I felt like getting out of town. We checked the weather app and it said that Denver was going to be 70 degrees this weekend. So we grabbed my sister Chandler & her husband Tanner for a quick trip!

This weekend some friends and I took a drive to a place called Swan Valley. There is a pass with a beautiful view of the mountains and water falls. We have come here a few times and it's still one of my favorite places in Idaho.

Lately, we have been talking a lot about when Curtis and I first started dating. Sometimes it feels like years since we first met or were even engaged. Dating each other were some of the best months, but boy were we glad when they were over (and we got married).

So I have talked before about how I am not a fan of Winter. Here in Idaho the weather has not been above 30 degrees in months and it pains me to go outside. I don't spend all my days watching television, but sometimes I wish I could. I get attached to characters in TV, movies, and even books.

Yes those are Christmas decorations up behind us! Man the past few weeks have been such a struggle to get back to reality. For most of us school is in full swing and were running around like chickens with our heads cut off. It is hard to keep our days organized or even keep ourselves sane! Here are some things we like to do to make sure we have good, productive days:

Whenever Curtis and I talk about Thanksgiving dinner we always reference back to this SNL skit from last year.

We have all had awkward situations with family members that have different views on politics, religion or other happenings going on in the world. There is something to be said for healthy dialogue, but we all know that when it comes to crazy Uncle Glenn, matters can quickly devolve. 

Of course everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but there are some topics you might want to avoid...

1. Politics
You are allowed to make a couple "You're fired" or "It's gonna be uge" jokes, but that's it. Talking politics with your own family NEVER results in really productive and informative discussions. Even if you're all in the same party or whatever, it won't matter. It's like metaphorically burning the Thanksgiving turkey. 

2. Religion
Everyone believes something different from one another. Even if the family you are sharing Thanksgiving with is all the same religion, there is still no room for judgement or questioning. Religion is such a touchy subject and you just don't want to over step your bounds at the dinner table. 

3. Sickness
There is a difference between telling us about you falling and hurting your knee than telling us about the nasty side effects your pain medication is giving you. No, I don't want to hear how you got that mole off your back or how you have been so constipated the last few weeks. We love you, but we don't need to hear your medical history while we are eating, so please leave that for your doctors to look at later.

4. Money
Beware of money talk! The kind that happens when people begin to tell other people what they should be doing with their money, or even worse, what they shouldn't be doing. Talking cash is a slippery slope, especially at a family gathering. Say thank you to your great aunt that slips you a $20 for gas and leave it at that.

5. Vegetarian/Gluten Free
If you are a vegetarian, that's great. If you are gluten free, even better. But remember it's probably best to keep your ethical or nutritional values to yourself as much as possible at Thanksgiving even though it may be a little weird for you, sitting inches away from a turkey carcass.
