him & her XXVIII: home is where the food is

H E R:

Everyone loves going home.

Not the house you live in right now, but back to where you grew up. Where your parents welcome you with open arms and a fridge freshly stocked.

Going home is always exciting for me, because it doesn't happen that often. Right now my husband and I live in Idaho so we don't get to stop by South Carolina that much.

That being said the last time I was home was for Christmas, so I was getting pretty homesick.

I was able to go to Columbia (South Carolina) for a couple weeks to help my parents' company Sunflower Cleaning Group as they worked on a huge project. Unfortunately, Curtis couldn't come for obvious reasons (grown up job).

It was hard to be separated for that long, but I was distracted with work and baby nieces and him with Stranger Things.

After we finished up work I got to hang out and relax in my favorite places. Chandler and I were able to go to Charleston for a day. We are obsessed with Charleston, partly because were basic and The Notebook was filmed there.

All the Titus sisters and nieces (and nephew) made a trip to Carowinds. Carowinds is this huge amusement park in South Carolina. We played in the water park, rode a bunch of rollercoasters, and tried not to lose any kids. It was so fun!

Curtis finally flew in to Columbia and I was so pumped he was finally here! We headed straight to a lake house on Lake Murray for a few days with the whole family.

This was my favorite part of our entire trip. I have four brothers and sisters that are all married. Two brothers live on the east coast and my sisters live in the west. It is so hard to get us all together that when we are I just never want it to end.

We rented jet skis and played in the water for hours. I love the water on the east coast, because you can actually feel your legs when you swim. We played ridiculous games until late at night and ate too many m&ms.

It was the best couple weeks in a place that I love and most definitely one of the highlights of my summer.

H I M:

For the past two years Hannah has had the chance to go back home in August and work for her parents' cleaning company. After last year, I really didn’t want her to go again because it is such a long time a part.

But it was a blessing to have her go, earn some money, and spend time with her family and for me to eventually join her out there.

Being home by myself for a couple weeks was pretty lonely and eager to see Hannah, but the two weeks a part did go a lot faster this year.

My travels took me from SLC to LA for one of my best friend’s weddings. I then hopped on a red eye with my brother in law from LA to Columbia.

We told the twins we saw JoJo from The Bachelorette at the airport and they believed us. Girls...

After a long night of traveling we were finally reunited with our wives. It was so nice to be with Hannah again.

Joining up with her whole family at Lake Murray was awesome. 3 days at a lake house is my idea of a perfect vacation. It was so fun spending time with all the family.

Jetskiing, boating, swimming, late night talks, and lots of games. I even had a chance to show off my new American Flag speedo. Hannah was not a fan.

It was the perfect little vacation and I am very glad we had the chance to go out there and spend some time with everyone. Besides the humidity, I’d give this trip a 10/10.
