travel: 5 places to visit in denver

denver 1
For the long weekend Curtis & I felt like getting out of town. We checked the weather app and it said that Denver was going to be 70 degrees this weekend. So we grabbed my sister Chandler & her husband Tanner for a quick trip!

We had a fantastic time exploring down town and hanging out with family. It was so beautiful the entire time we were there that I literally got sunburned. My skin wasn't used to above negative temperatures!

So we came up with a list of our 5 favorite places to visit in Denver!

1. Union Station
Union Station is every girl's dream! Located in the heart of downtown Denver, the renovated 1914 Beaux-Arts train station is home to 10 chef-owned restaurants and bars, shops and the famous Crawford Hotel. I envy the people that can come here often to eat and hang out in the station. denver 2

2. Larimer Square
Larimer Square is the Mile High City's oldest and most historic block. The buildings along Larimer Square are now home to independent shops, fancy restaurants, and lively bars. I had seen pictures of this block all over pinterest, but had never been. We came to take a picture but stayed for awhile to walk around the shops.

3. Denver Biscuit Co
Wow I don't even know where to begin with this place. Denver Biscuit Co is a new restaurant that specializes in homemade biscuit sandwiches. I got "The Dahlia", which had a homemade sausage patty, apple butter, a fried egg and was smothered in maple syrup (also tears). They have been featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, & Dives so you know it's good!

4. Voodoo Doughnuts
Good things come in pink boxes is an understatement. Every time I come to Colorado I make it a priority to go to Voodoo Doughnuts! My favorite doughnut is the oreo one with drizzled peanut butter. This place is open 24/7 and only takes cash! (But there's an ATM inside)

5. Red Rocks Amphitheater
This amphitheater is a naturally formed, world famous outdoor venue just 15 miles outside of Denver. Red Rocks holds some of the biggest concerts in the country as well as multiple hikes and biking trails. I've visited a few times and Curtis has been lucky enough to go to a couple concerts here. It's beautiful!
